Before the tragic death of Kassidy Bortner, Chad Evans lived life fully and actively, with many friends and relatives.

In June 2001, Chad and his friend, Tim Goodnow, and Chad's brother, Jason, were camping for four days and three nights on the Androscoggin River, ending at Lake Umbagog. In the photo are Jason Evans on the left and Chad on the right.
